Carolina Beach Pier repaired after Andrea, open for business

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WECT) - The pier on the north end of Carolina Beach is back open Saturday after having to close Friday due to damage sustained by a strong wind gust from then-Tropical Storm Andrea.

Mayor Bob Lewis says there wasn't any other significant damage from the storm. Some small trees were blown over and trash cans got caught in the breeze, but crews quickly cleaned up those problems.

He says Andrea moved out just in time for the weekend.

Freeman Park opened up again Friday afternoon.
