CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WECT) - Close to 50 cars in Carolina Beach have been broken into since Memorial Day weekend, according to police.
Most of the cases are under investigation, but detectives did arrest Kevin Pulley, who was charged Sunday with breaking into one car.
Police apprehended him after they found car stereos in his mother's hotel room.
The detective on the case says whoever is responsible for the rest of the crimes is not doing much "breaking."
“They go up one side of the street and down the other just pulling handles and whatever pops open, they just help themselves to,” said Det. Chris Latham with the Carolina Beach Police. “Very rarely do we have any cars that are damaged, as far as the windows getting broken into. It's usually cars that are unlocked.”
