New labyrinth to provide peace and self-reflection

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WECT) – The Carolina Beach farmer’s market will foot the bill and provide materials to install a new labyrinth near the corner of Third Street and Lumberton Avenue in Carolina Beach.

According to a news release, the path will be located under the old oaks on the grounds of St. Paul’s UMC and will be available to the public at all times.

A labyrinth is a path that looks like a maze, but is not. People will walk these trails for reflection, meditation, prayer, and to just relax. The theory is that by walking the labyrinth one partakes of a spiritual journey of self-examination and enlightenment.

The community is invited to help lay the stone pathway Saturday, May 4 at 9 a.m.
