KURE BEACH, NC (WECT) – A new exhibit that opened July 1 at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher will run through September, according to a press release from aquarium officials.
The exhibit, entitled Ocean Pyrography: The Art of Mary Jane Mumpower, is the newest addition to the aquarium’s Spadefish Gallery, and is said to combine elements of fire and water, along with aquatic animals and marine environments seared into wood.
Through her art, Mumpower created scenes with varied textures and patterns.
The Spadefish Gallery displays the works of local artists throughout the year.
