CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WECT) – A family-owned business in Carolina Beach is closing its doors after 29 years of business.
Mama Mia’s opened on South Lake Park Blvd. in 1983. According to the restaurant’s Facebook page, owners decided to close the business due to financial reasons.
“Unfortunately recent years have proven very difficult to secure financing to make improvements to our business and this has contributed to our decision,” Mama Mia’s owners posted on Facebook. “Over the last 29 years our family has been lucky enough to be part of the Carolina Beach community and we are greatly appreciative to everyone that has been part of our journey and traveled this road with us.”
Nikki’s Gourmet Sushi will soon open in place of Mama Mia’s. The sushi restaurant has four other locations in Wilmington and one other in Surf City.
