'Safe Haven' to film reshoots, ferry to run on abbreviated schedule

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – The Southport-Fort Fisher Ferry will run on an abbreviated schedule November 17 to accommodate reshoots for the film Safe Haven.

According to the Department of Transportation, the amended schedule will last until 2:30 p.m. and includes:

  • Departing Southport at: 5:30 a.m., 7, 8:30, 10, 11:30 and 1 p.m.; and
  • Departing Fort Fisher at: 6:15 a.m., 7:45, 9:15, 10:45, 12:15 p.m. and 1:45.

After 2:30 p.m., the normal winter schedule will resume. Commuters are asked to plan ahead for schedule changes November 17.

The alternate route from the Southport Ferry terminal to Carolina Beach is as follows:

  • Go around the traffic circle at the end of Ferry Road and turn right at the first traffic light onto Howe Street. At the second traffic light, turn right onto River Road (N.C. 133/87). Stay on River Road (N.C. 133/87) until you reach the town of Leland. Turn right onto N.C. 17/74/76 to Wilmington. Cross over the bridge and get on U.S. 421 South to Carolina Beach.
