NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – To celebrate the upcoming fall season, Fort Fisher State Recreation Area’s second annual Fall Festival will be held October 2, according to a news release.

The festival, which will include games, activities, a dunk tank and more, will kick off at 10 a.m. and go until 5 p.m. Kids dressed up will also get candy.

Additionally, that night, folks interested can embark on The Haunted Trail, which is hike through the maritime forest packed with local haunts, folklore, thrills and scares.

The hike will begin at 7:30 p.m. and go until 9:30 p.m.

Both events are free of charge.

The recreation area is located at 1000 Loggerhead Road in Kure Beach.
