KURE BEACH, NC (WECT) – New Year’s Eve is quickly approaching, and if you don’t have plans yet, keep in mind that the Island of Lights celebration will be held by the pier in Kure Beach.
A giant beach ball will be dropped at midnight, accompanied by a fireworks show, according to the event's website.
There will also be a raffle, in which the winner will receive original artwork for the 2012 Christmas card and ornament.
Families can head to the pier around 9 p.m., where there will be a DJ, dancing and food available to buy.
The event is free to attend.
