CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WECT) The 9th annual Steve Haydu St. Patrick’s Lo Tide Run will take place in Carolina Beach March 16, and particiapants can go ahead and sign up, according to event organizers.
When Steve Haydu was diagnosed with cancer, he had no medical insurance. He died in May 2005, but his Lo Tide Run namesake has raised money for local cancer patients with no insurance for the past several years.
Early race registration for the event lasts until March 2, with the cost being $30 for the 5K or 10K. The cost is $25 for students or military members with IDs.
After March 2, the cost increases to $35.
Anyone is welcome to participate in the race, not just athletes.
Afterwards, there will be party at the Boardwalk Beach Stage. The cost to attend for racers is $15.
For others, it’s $20, or $25 the day of the event.
