CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WECT) - More than 6,000 gallons of wastewater spilled out of the collection system in Carolina Beach Wednesday, according to a news release.
The untreated wastewater spilled into Myrtle Grove Sound. There is a possibility it reached Carolina Beach Lake, according to the information provided from the town.
This was due to heavy rain and flooding in the area Wednesday morning.
State law requires spills more than 1,000 gallons to be reported to the public.
