Film about Fort Hood hero Kim Munley in the works

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Kim Munley, a native of Carolina Beach and one of the victims of the Fort Hood shooting in 2009, is involved in a movie project that the director says will “bring the complete story of the Fort Hood shooting to the American people.”

Fort Hood: The Untold Truth” centers around Munley’s experience on Nov. 5, 2009.

Two ferry routes cancelled for 'Safe Haven' filming

SOUTHPORT, NC (WECT) – Two departures from the Southport-Fort Fisher ferry route will be cancelled this evening to assist Safe Haven Productions with their filming efforts.

The Motor Vessel Southport and its crew will be utilized in the filming of the movie Safe Haven, which is currently being filmed in and around the Southport area and is based on a book by Nicholas Sparks.

According to the NCDOT, the 6:15 p.m. departure from Southport and the 7 p.m. departure from Fort Fisher will not take place August 7.

The NCDOT is asking commuters to make alternate arrangements that day and visitors are asked to plan ahead and be aware the schedule will be amended.
