The Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce organized the festival. The chamber puts on several festivals, celebrating different genres of music. But this is the first time for a bluegrass festival.

"Judging it right now we're going to make it a yearly thing. So we're excited about that," said Chamber chairman Mike Worley.

He said the weather helped to bring out a big crowd and he expects about 1,000 people attended throughout the day.

People could buy food and other items from vendors while listening and dancing to some bluegrass music.

Residents can soon read emails from elected officials in Carolina Beach

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WECT) – Council members in Carolina Beach voted Tuesday night to install an email terminal inside Town Hall to be more translucent to residents.

Anyone in the general public can use the email terminal to search through emails of elected public officials and department heads.

While the ability to search emails is not new, the ease of not having to file a formal request is.

Other agencies like the City of Wilmington and New Hanover County offer similar terminals.

Carolina Beach hopes to have the system up and running in the next two months.
