CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WECT) - Four properties currently owned by Carolina Beach Town Hall will be up for sale soon.
These properties along 309 Carolina Beach Avenue North were purchased for the Oceanfront Park project.
After years of planning, the town decided the land was no longer needed for the project. It initially axed the pier because of financial problems.
"The money from the sales will go towards filling the current debt of $4.3 million," said Mayor Ray Rothrock. "Once some of the debt has been paid and with help from the City of Wilmington, the project will continue."
"The current project could take anywhere up to $2 million," said Town Manager Tim Owens.
The Oceanfront Park project is moving forward and town leaders are hoping the scale back and property sales will be enough to bring the park to Carolina Beach.
