CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WECT) – Several people in Carolina Beach say they've spotted "multiple waterspouts" well off shore Thursday morning.
Public safety officials confirm a waterspout was seen 15 miles off the coast.
Several thunderstorms off of the coast are moving slowly toward the north and west. There are no active advisories, however the dynamics are in place for another day of showers and thunderstorms for the remainder of the afternoon.
The storm responsible for producing the spout dissipated by noon Thursday.
While beautiful, it is important to remember that a waterspout can be deadly and dangerous - and should be treated as if you were encountering a tornado.
